7W/ft Self-Regulating Heat Cable for Pipes, Roofs & Gutters
MAXKOSKO Preassembled Self-Regulating Heat Cable provides one flexible solution for water pipe freeze protection and roof, gutter, and downspout de-icing.
The 120V cable automatically adjusts its heat output along the heating section as surrounding temperatures change. Each fixed-length cable includes an additional 10 ft power cord with a lighted plug.
Your selected length refers to the heating cable section only. The 10 ft power cord is additional and is not deducted from the selected heating length.
Dual-Purpose Protection
Suitable for compatible water pipes, roof edges, gutters, downspouts, valleys, and other exposed freeze-prone areas.
Self-Regulating Output
Produces more heat in colder conditions and reduces output as the surrounding temperature becomes warmer.
7W/ft Rated Output
Rated at approximately 7 watts per foot at 50°F (10°C) for demanding outdoor freeze protection.
10 ft Power Cord
Provides additional reach between the heating section and a suitable grounded 120V outlet.
Important Before Ordering
Choose the Length and Application Carefully
Fixed-Length Cable: The heating cable is factory assembled and sealed. Do not cut, shorten, splice, repair, paint, glue, or otherwise modify it.
Self-Regulating Is Not Auto-Off: The cable adjusts its heat output but may continue drawing power. Disconnect it during warm weather or use a compatible automatic controller.
Pipe Installation Requires Insulation: Suitable pipe insulation and a weather-resistant outer covering are required separately for reliable pipe freeze protection.
Roof Accessories Sold Separately: Roof clips, cable spacers, downspout hangers, and other roof-specific attachment hardware are not included.
Plan One Complete Route: Select enough cable for the entire pipe or roof route. Do not cut the cable to serve separate areas.
120V GFCI Protection Required: Use a grounded, weather-protected 120V outlet with code-compliant ground-fault protection. Do not use an extension cord.

For Pipes: The cable helps reduce the risk of water pipes freezing. Correct sizing, sensor or controller use, insulation, and electrical protection remain essential.
For Roofs: The cable helps maintain meltwater drainage. It does not remove accumulated roof snow or eliminate an ice dam that has already formed.

For Water Pipes
- Measure the full pipe length, including valves and other exposed components.
- Confirm the pipe material, outside diameter, lowest expected temperature, and insulation thickness.
- If the cable is longer than the pipe, follow the manual for approved spiral or multiple-pass installation.
- Do not leave heated cable coiled during operation.
For Roofs and Gutters
- Include the roof-edge pattern, gutters, downspouts, valleys, dormers, and other problem areas.
- Gutters and downspouts may require a double cable run.
- Use a separate cable when protected areas are too far apart for one safe continuous route.
- Review the manual’s roof-layout and length-calculation tables before ordering.

- Do not sharply bend, crush, staple, pierce, or place excessive tension on the cable.

- Do not install the heating cable beneath shingles or other roofing materials.
- Keep the power connection protected from water and form a drip loop where required.
